Music competition for Zeeland Youth 2024

16 December 2024

On Saturday 30 November, the final of the 16th Music Competition for the youth of Zeeland took place in the Zeeland Concert Hall in Middelburg. With some 170 visitors, an enthusiastic jury and finalists who played their hearts out, the organisation looks back on a successful event.

The goals have remained the same over the years: to encourage young Zeeland talent in the practice of classical music and to give these young people the opportunity to show their qualities on a large stage. Many past finalists have shown and showcased their musical talents in all kinds of performances with orchestras and in smaller musical groups. Many have gone on to advanced musical training and competed in national music competitions.

The preliminary round took place on 16 November and was judged by:

  • Ab Nieuwdorp (Presenter De Klassieken NPO Radio 4 and tuba player)
  • Tiny van de Wijdeven (trumpet player)
  • Ksenia Kouzmenko (pianist)

During the final, the jury consisted of:

  • Ivan Meylemans (chief conductor of Het Zeeuws Orkest)
