As for almost everyone, the Corona period was a trying one for the Westkappels Choir. Particularly sad was that the choir celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020 but had to cancel all anniversary performances. It was not even possible to rehearse anymore and there were concerns that this would affect the survival of the choir. Fortunately, the opposite proved to be true; despite everything, some members sang almost weekly in small groups and this clearly strengthened the bonds between them.
In 2022, the momentum could be restored with weekly rehearsals and, fortunately, several performances: the annual successful performance in Westkapelle at a packed auditorium, the Volkorendagen in Middelburg, the Choral Days in Brielle, a concert in the little church of Ellewoutsdijk, and a performance at the Night of the Night in Middelburg.
On July 9, 2022, the choir sang at the Family Day. Writing about it, Jozien Slabber, chairman of the choir, states::
We look back with great pleasure on our performance during your fund’s Family Day in Vlissingen. It was great to be able to sing for such a large group. But especially nice that they also sang the Zeeland Folk Song with us. It is tradition with us to start every concert with that. Apart from the beautiful Walcheren costumes, it always adds a special touch to our performances. A sort of hallmark. Actually, we keep a piece of heritage alive with it.
On September 16, the choir gave its annual performance to a full house. This performance was partly made possible by a financial contribution from the Hurgronje Family Fund.
