May last year we reported on the restoration of the 17th-century tombstones in the Michaëls Church in Koudekerke. Meanwhile, refurbishment of the church, including restoration of the tombstones has been completed and on 19 January last, the Administrators received a message on this matter from the chairman of the church council, which they are happy to share with you:
After a year of intensive renovation, I am pleased to inform you that the refurbishment of the Michaëls Church in Koudekerke has been completed. The result is a beautiful church, which does justice to its monumental character, is sustainably heated and is equipped with contemporary multimedia. As a result, not only are Sunday services much more convenient, but the church building is now multifunctional. Your wonderful contribution made it possible to have the gravestones that were found restored and given a proper place in the natural stone floor. With the refurbishment, our monumental building has a future.
Please find attached Impressie herinrichting and the beautiful result. On our website, you can view the work in even more detail in the photo gallery.
We are very grateful that – partly thanks to your donation – the refurbishment has been made possible.
Thank you very much for your commitment and trust in our beautiful project!
